Body suspension artists let it all hang out
Written by Cora Kilcoyne - The Lantern
OnlyFleshAn angel hovered above the stage, a reverend read from his Bible and Jesus was the DJ at Skully's Music Diner on High Street on Friday.

In a show that began as a demented parody of a Sunday school play, Only Flesh shocked and enthralled the crowd with their live music and body suspensions.

Only Flesh is a Columbus-based group of tattoo and piercing artists whose performances include combinations of body modifications, body suspensions and performance art. The group was founded by front-man "Rev" Shawn Lower in 1997 and is comprised of two bands - Electro Sleaze and Sleaze Core.

Cock is always hotter with a little heavy metal
Written by Shayna Sparling - Imprint Online

Prince AlbertIt's practically a tradition for university students to celebrate their new-found independence by getting a tattoo or piercing, but instead of getting a boring old navel or ear piercing, you could consider doing something a little more exciting: piercing your naughty bits!

Genital piercing is practised all over the world, and some forms have been around for centuries; some come from traditional tribal initiation rites in the days before metal needles, where sharp bamboo was used instead. Today you can safely get almost any type of genital piercing you might want, with reputable body piercers use sterile, super-sharp needles. The only caveat is that you might have to wait a few months before you can have sex again.

Scarification: Ancient Body Art Leaving New Marks
Written by Sharon Guynup

Ryan Ouellette, Precision Body ArtsNational Geographic - Over the last seven or eight years, Pitts said, scarification has become remarkably widespread in the U.S. and Australia and across Europe, from London to Prague.

Scarification is done either by cutting repeatedly with a scalpel, using a cauterizing tool, or by "strike branding," which is much like cattle branding.

After cleaning the area and stenciling on the design, the artist begins cutting or burning the skin until reaching the right depth and width. "It can take 15 minutes, but I've also done pieces that took eight hours over two days," said Ryan Ouellette, a body-modification artist who owns Precision Body Arts in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Offering Body Piercing For the Faint-Hearted
Written by Vickie Elmer

Andy Scott, Bethesda TattooIn nine years, Andy Scott has pierced eyebrows, necks, the bridge of the nose, and dozens of belly buttons.

"I've done just about everything. . . . If you name it and think it's unusual, I've done it," he says. These days, he works as the piercer at Bethesda Tattoo Company. He got his start after he was with a friend who fainted while getting pierced.

The piercer didn't do anything, so Scott jumped over the counter, picked his friend up and helped him recover.
